The Pillows

For both the ORIGINAL and the SIDE SLEEPER Latex designs, Dr Hall's general recommendation is that a person between 110-200 lbs should order the MEDIUM, a person under 110 lbs should order a SMALL and a person over 200 lbs should order the LARGE PILLO1. For the Memory Foam versions, it is slightly different. SMALL = person between 40-90 lbs, MEDIUM = 90 to 220 lbs, and a LARGE is for people over 220. The WEIGHT of a person is generally consistent with a persons shoulder size which is by far the most important factor in determining the size of your PILLO1 while side sleeping. Other factors are age, personal preference and the softness or firmness of your bed. Here are some examples: Age: Elderly people sometimes need to go up a size as they usually like to have their heads elevated a bit more. Children under age of 10 are almost always smalls. We don't recommend pillow for infants or children under 5. Personal Preference: Some people just like to sleep on flatter pillows and they should go down a size. Some people like a little more height to the pillow and they should perhaps simply go up a size. Firmness of your bed: If you have a very soft plush bed, you may want to go down a size and if you have a very firm bed, you may want to go up a size. The reason: A persons shoulders will sink further into a soft bed more than a hard bed and yet the PILLO remains the same. Consistent with our extensive experience and research on fitting or "sizing" you correctly with the right PILLO1, although the examples above are some variations worth mentionoing, as a very good general rule, the size charts provided on the order page are very good guidelines for a good fit and customization of PILLO1 for your body. Also, it is very important to note that the PILLO1 variability in sizes are for the height of the pillow and NOT for the typical length of the pillow. The common sizes in linens and pillows such as twin, small, queen, and king sizes to match your bed are for other companies but are not used with PILLO1. In fact, the length of the standard and large sizes are the same (however the length of the small is less) so don't decide the size of your PILLO1 based on your bed size but only with regard to your body size.
Our pillows have been manufactured to the highest quality standards in the bedding industry. Hall Innovations warrants its Latex pillows against any loss of resiliency or shape for a period of two (2) years and warrants its Memory Foam Pillows for one (1) year. Any evidence of product abuse, steam or dry cleaning of the foam, tampering, cutting or reshaping, or neglect of any kind other than typical home sleeping usage will void the warranty. (See further details by clicking Warranty/Guarantee at the subheader of each page on website). Since we have had between 90% and 95% customer satisfaction rate, we are very confident that you will be extremely pleased with your purchase and that you will simply want to tell others about your improved life through better sleep with PILLO1.
Yes, we generally RECOMMEND that you use an OUTER PILLOW CASE. Your PILLO1 will come with a FITTED zipped protective cover but not a outer slip pillow case. Since both the ORIGINAL and SIDESLEEPER designs are unique, we do recommend you purchase a custom sized outer slip cover from our PILLO1 site (see PILLO1 accessories) that are made of 100% cotton and are a custom sized for each design. However, you can also use a king size outer pillow case which will work (however won't be as good of a fit as our custom sized slip covers) for both the standard and the large sizes but do NOT USE a standard size case for the Med and Lg sizes as they will be too small and tight and lessen the effectiveness of the pillow, especially the cradle design. Too small of a case is the worst thing one can do as it creates a "trampoline effect" lifting the head too high and also increases the firmness of the pillow. For the Small PILLO1 and the Side Sleepers, we also have a custom fitted outer case that goes over the zipped custom case that is included with your purchase. You can also use a STANDARD size case over your small sized Original and all sizes of the SIde Sleeper, but again, DON'T USE A CASE THAT IS TOO SMALL. Having an outer SLIP CASE is recommended as then, you can simply remove the outer case for washing and NOT disturb the delicate foam by unzipping the custom fit cover. Removing the custom zipped cover will increase the chance of damaging the delicate foams and could reduce the life of the pillow. If one really does need to wash the custom fit cover due to personal reasons, it is certainly okay and you should follow the washing instructions seen on the label or explained in the answer to the next question below.
Yes you can. However, as stated in answer 2 above, we highly recommend that you do not remove the zipped fitted cover unless you really need to (examples like spills or bad stains) as removing and replacing could damage the delicate Talalay latex or Memory Foam. If you do need to wash the cover, please machine wash on cold and tumble dry with a low heat setting. We recommend that you DO NOT IRON the custom fitted case.
Yes, but not through regular washing machines. If you need to wash the pillow itself, we highly recommend that PILLO1 (referring to the latex or memory foam construction within the case) should only be washed/cleaned by professional dry cleaners. It is possible that your professional cleaner may wish to use a steam cleaning system. However, if steam is used or if there is any use of dry cleaning chemicals in the process, your PILLO1 will no longer be covered under your manufacturers warranty. Again, please DO NOT try and wash PILLO1 in a regular washing machine as there is a very high likelihood that this will damage the pillow.
Yes. Once on your bed and tucked inside your king size pillow case, PILLO1 looks like an ordinary pillow but performs like no other. It is a highly engineered, intuitive pillow that your body will undoubtedly grow to love over time and you will find it difficult to ever do without. However, it may also take some time to adjust to sleeping on such amazing support. The important thing to realize is that positive structural and behavioral change usually takes some time and your body will generally become accustomed to the support somewhere between the 2nd and 4th week depending on the health of your spine and the pillow you have become accustomed to. Especially for older individuals who have been sleeping on a conventional pillow for many years that usually raises their head above their body, the new cervical support that aligns the spine for perfect sleeping posture, together with the "head perfect design" for side-sleeping, may initially feel a bit foreign. Sometimes, although not always, it takes a little time to get used to the new system and improved PILLO1 support but we know that you soon won't be able to sleep on anything else!
The natural properties of Talalay latex creates a internal foam environment that does not support the existence of fungus and bacteria . The latex also does not have any unhealthy chemicals or pesticides sprayed on for repellents of microbes. It is a very pure product that has been treated with flash freezing to -20 degree and then rapidly raising the temperature up to 220 degrees Fahrenheit. Also, many microbes need heat and moisture to survive. Talalay latex has thousands of tubules that carry breathable air and create a natural coolness that many microbes and dust mites find uninhabitable.
Hypoallergenic literally means that it has a reduced ability of creating allergies- in PILLO1's case, due to the material that is within the product. Most people have been exposed to the thought that all "latex" can cause allergies. This is untrue. It depends on the way the latex is handled and processed. One of the primary "allergens" of some latex is the protein that is present in the sap of the rubber tree. Most believe that this protein is denatured and destroyed during the five-stage washing, and seven-step Talalay manufacturing process, which cleanses any water soluble proteins. Through the mixture of soaps, rubber curing agents and latex, as well as washing and extreme temperature variations during the process, the proteins that usually cause allergies are neutralized and rendered inert, and thus generally have no reactions to the immune system of our bodies.
First, when brand new out of the box, you will see that on the PILLO1 Original Latex, there is a "FIRMER" green sticker on one side and then a "SOFTER" green sticker on the other; to deliniate which contour is firmer or which is softer. This variation of firmness is offered only in the Medium and Large sizes of the ORIGINAL PILLO1 only, i.e., the firmness variation does not come in the small size as both contours are medium soft yet still supportive. If the removable sticker comes off or is pulled off before use (which we normally would suggest as to not feel the sticker on your neck during back lying), one can normally simply squeeze with your fingers or press down on the cylindrical contours and feel the difference. Dr Hall highly recommends most PILLO1 users begin with using the SOFTER contour for the first 3-4 weeks and then gradually begin using the FIRMER side if you prefer for more support as the spine becomes accustomed to the new support system. This is truly ultimately simply a personal preference as both contours are very effective and comfortable for most people. Please see more information on this topic in the next question below.
The wonderful thing about the PILLO1 Original Latex is that you do have a choice of back lying resistance/support which Dr. Hall thought was important when creating the design. The Gel Infused Memory Foam design only has one level of support in the cervical curve. (please see question below) Re the firmness choice with the latex design, no two people are alike and there are obviously going to be a preference to what type of support feels right and is the most comfortable to you. So, Dr. Hall incorporated the best of both worlds with two highly thought-out variable resistances to satisfy each and every customer. To determine which side of the cradle is right for you, try both but ultimately use the contour that is most comfortable to YOU. Here are some tips: As a general rule, for individuals new to PILLO1, Dr. Hall would suggest starting with the softer contoured support. It's just a little easier to get used to at first. However, we do have some people who prefer the FIRMER cylindrical support of the neck that is provided in the MEDIUM and LARGE SIZES (only). Both C-Shaped neck supports give you excellent comfort and control and they are the exact same dimension and height, simply a slight variability in resiliency, support and "push back" over the course of the night. Simply put, the FIRMER side will maintain your cervical curve better than the more gentle SOFTER side, although the gentle side may be easier to accommodate to, especially at first. You will just have to see which one works best for you. They are both great, but in line with creating the best pillow in the world, Dr. Hall wanted virtual adaptation to sleep and a design with some variability to fit everybody's needs. If you have any other inquiries, please do not hesitate to write to us at [email protected] or call our customer service lines 1-877-4Pillo1
No. The MEMORY foam Original has only one level/type of support for the cervical curve, i.e., it does NOT have a soft or firm support option. We do however suggest that you turn the pillow 180 degrees one time a week to maximize the life of the pillow.
